Dammann Frères: A French Tea Story

Dammann Frères’ history is one of the reasons Happy Gourmet chose to import the brand. These chapters offer a way to understand how its knowledge of tea has been passed on.

A growing focus on tea

In 1825, Dammann Frères acquired Derode, a tea and vanilla merchant. In 1949, Jean Jumeau-Lafond joined Robert Dammann in leading the company, which turned its focus exclusively to tea.

The Jumeau-Lafond family became central to that story. The brand describes expertise passed down through three generations.

Two more moments to remember

In 1980, Jacques and Didier Jumeau-Lafond developed the Cristal® tea sachet. In 2008, Dammann Frères opened its first shop in Paris, giving people a place to discover the brand’s work.

Read together, these moments show a changing business and knowledge handed from one generation to the next. They are part of what Happy Gourmet hopes to share with tea lovers in Thailand.
